THE DIGITAL DIGITIZATION OF SMOKING WEED
High Ways provides market value in its ability to support anyone who engages with cannabis, no matter their existing knowledge or prior experience, through the autonomy provided by the glass-based smart filter and High Ways mobile app used in unison. Just like there is no one way to know what your cannabis intake preferences are, there is no one-stop shop for cannabis education resources and ways to understand responsible intake. The High Ways mobile app fosters autonomy through its onboarding process, where users follow a 3-step onboarding process that collects information about the user's intake frequency, experiential preferences, and methods of intake to inform calculated recommendations in safe intake levels and interval duration between inhales.
CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR
Using cannabis with the goal of replacing other substances is the least common (1.3%), but with the rise of cannabis drinks, this goal may see an increase.
In 2021, 73% of respondents expressed some level of agreement (somewhat or strongly) that they had enough trustworthy information regarding cannabis consumption, a slight decrease from the 77% reported in 2020.
In 2015, a study focusing on young adults' views on health behaviour apps revealed that their demographic have fostered an interest in using relevant applications.
Key factors that influence their engagement and retention with these apps include the accuracy of information, authenticity, security, the amount of effort needed to use the app, and the immediate impact the app has on their mood.

THE TECHNOLOGY
High Ways is a glass-based smart filter that attaches to as the filter end of a joint, paired in unison with a mobile app that collects cannabis smoking preferences and frequency to inform dosage intake and intervals in between inhales, similar to a breathalyzer. When paired with Bluetooth, the High Ways mobile app audibly signals to the smart filter when it is time to start and end individual puffs. The High Ways mobile app also acts as a resource library, displaying relevant cannabis-related content based on customizable user preferences and usage patterns detected in real-time.
